How Convection Dryers Work
Convection Dryers work by using hot air to dry your clothes. Most people will be familiar with this concept because we use it all the time. Many ovens are convection ovens, and the vast majority of household dryers are convection dryers. Once you have your hot air, the tumbler tumbles the clothes in the dryer, and the air is circulated throughout the dryer until the clothes are dry.
Setting Up the Morus Portable Dryer
Setting up the Morus Portable Dryer is very easy, and if you are in a hurry to open the dryer box, you will probably find that getting the dryer out of the box is the hardest part of setting up the dryer.
When you open the box, it is best to open the bottom and then lift the box. This is a much better way than opening the top and trying to pull the dryer out of the box or opening both ends and pushing the dryer out.
If you read the instructions for removing the box, it will instruct you on the best method to get the dryer out of its packaging.
Once the dryer is out of the packaging and the plastic that comes around the dryer is off, you will need to remove the contents inside of the dryer. These contents include items such as manuals, a shoe rack, and a power cord.
The power cord is plugged into the back of the dryer. Next to the power cord, there is a switch to turn the dryer on. Make sure you check that the switch is in the ON position.
Once you are plugged into your standard 110V outlet, you will need to long-press the power button on the display that is at the top of the dryer. This will turn the dryer on. You are now ready to select the desired operation by using the circulating arrow button. Once you short-press the power button to select the operation, and the dryer will start.
How to Use the Morus Portable Dryer
The dryer is very straightforward with its use. If you have used just about any type of appliance at some time in your life, you will most likely find the dryer easy to use. The only thing you may find challenging is deciding which setting you wish to use while you are using the dryer.
There is a convenient sticker on the dryer that tells you about the different settings and when you should use them. For most people, you will use a few settings 90 percent of the time.
These settings are the automatic setting, which is also known as the smart dry mode, the quick mode, and the shirt mode. After you have added your desired items to dry and you have selected your desired setting, you are ready to watch your clothes dry.
Our Overall Experience and Feelings About the Dryer
Overall this dryer has a lot of things going for it. It is the best-looking dryer we have seen and used.
It does not have a typical boxy shape. This can be a benefit or a disadvantage depending on how you look at it. We found it great when trying to find a place to place the dryer because it makes it less bulky and gives it a nice sleek design.
On the other hand, you cannot put anything on top of it. However, when living in small spaces like an RV, motorhome, or campervan, I think the sleek design is an advantage.
Performance
When it came to using the dryer, we found that it worked well, but there were some factors that made a difference in how the dryer functioned. We used the dryer in multiple different capacities.
We used it to dry clothes that came out of the washer, and the smart dry setting worked much better than the smart dry setting on our large home dryer. With our house dryer, we use a downloaded setting because the auto-dry would quit too early. The Morus didn’t quit early before the items were dry.
We also used the dryer to dry beach towels. We love the beach, and our kids love to swim. This means we have lots of wet towels, and getting them dry every day just by setting them out in the sun or hanging them on a towel rack can be a challenge at times. We decided to add them to the Morus dryer to dry them faster.
This worked pretty well, but the smart dry struggled here. This was for multiple reasons. The first reason was that they were probably too wet. The towels had not gone through your typical spin cycle of a washer and were, therefore more wet than they maybe should have been.
The second reason being it is easy to add too many beach towels to the dryer. However, outside of these human errors, the dryer did well. All we did was add some extra time to the dryer, and we had warm, dry towels.
We have not had any negative experiences while using the dryer, and we look forward to using it in the future. There are some great uses for a small Morus Zero Dryer, and they don’t always entail being in a small space.
Performance Testing
Our dryer testing did not include a side-by-side comparison to a similar style dryer. As of the time of this writing, we didn’t have a small portable dyer to test against the dryer. Our testing and experience are based on if the dryer did what it was supposed to do and if it did it well and in a timely manner.
Smart Setting
The Smart Setting is very convenient and worked well for us. When we used it after washing our clothes as someone would typically use it, it worked great. If you are using this setting and the items were not right from the washer, you may want to use the shirt setting.
A few things to be aware of when using this setting. The control panel will flash EST: and then, after a short time, a number will appear. This is an estimated drying time. Your clothes could actually finish sooner or take a little longer than the estimated dry time.
The reason behind the estimated number is the smart setting uses sensors that will sense when the clothes are dry. Once those sensors agree that the clothes are dry, the dryer will stop.
Large items like towels can trick the sensors. These items tend to be harder to move around, so if you notice large items with a few wet spots, you should try the shirt setting and manually add time by pressing the plus button.
Quick Dry
The quick dry is where you will see the Morus Zero technology come into play. The quick dry is made for light loads. Imagine you are going on a date, and you needed an outfit that was dirty, so you wash the outfit quickly and stick it in the dryer.
You would not do a full load on the quick dry. This could also be used if you decided your bra had not been washed in WAY too long and you needed it ASAP.
When used with a small load, this did a good job. It came out dry in 15 minutes.
Shirt Setting
The shirt setting is named as if you were only to use shirts, but in reality, this is the do-all setting along with the Sanitize Setting if you are not using the Smart Dry setting. In the Smart dry setting, you cannot adjust how much time is on the dryer. The Shirt Setting you can.
In this setting, the tumbler uses a more frequent tumble action. This is to help keep your shirts from getting wrinkled. The setting defaults to 60 minutes, but if you have smaller or larger loads, you could actually need less time or more time.
However, in general, 60 minutes seems to be a standard time used, at least for us it is.
Silk Mode
In all reality, we have not used this mode and probably won’t use it. We don’t have any silk clothing or clothing accessories that are silk. This can probably come from our outdoor background, as silk does not do that well hiking through national parks or beaches.
However, this setting dries at a lower temperature. This is to keep from damaging the silk, so it can also be used for delicate items that you may want to dry for a longer time period with less intense heat.
Warm Setting
The Warm Setting works nicely. In all reality, it works pretty much the same as the shirt setting, but instead of defaulting to 60 minutes, it defaults to 30 minutes. The temperature used for this setting appears to be the same. You just have them in for a shorter time.
Thirty minutes for some people is too much, and 10 minutes on this setting will give you warm towels or whatever you decide to warm.
Refresh Setting
The Refresh Setting is an interesting setting. It is to be used to freshen up a shirt or outfit. You would use this if you had a shirt on all day and then wanted to go hang out with your girl or guy, but you wanted to wear the same shirt.
It could also be used for something that has sat in your drawer for a long period of time, and it is not necessary to wash it, but it just needs a little refresher. The setting does not use your typical heater and is not recommended for use to dry anything.
It uses UV-C-led technology to freshen up your clothes and eliminate odors. UV-C led kills pathogens and is the upgrade of UV light uses.
Shoe
The shoe setting is used to dry your shoes and should be used with the included shoe drying rack. This prevents damage to the dryer and your shoes. If you have ever dried shoes in a regular-size dryer, they make lots of noise and will often hit the door hard enough to push it open.
The drying rack prevents this making it a great option for drying shoes. The time it takes to dry the shoes can vary. It is possible that it takes up to a couple of hours to dry the shoes. Each pair of shoes and the material they are made out of is different, which affects the dry time.
Sanitize Setting
The Sanitize Setting uses UV light and the heat capabilities of the Morus Dryer to sanitize and dry your clothes. This is a great setting to use if you are going to be washing a larger load.
We didn’t do any scientific tests to determine how strong the UV light is, but when we used the setting, it worked great. Some people will argue one way or another. It did what it was supposed to. Our clothes came out dry and smelling nice.

There are a handful of differences between your regular dryer and the Morus Portable Dryer. The easiest difference you will find is that the Morus dryer is much smaller and very portable.
