A Complete Review of the DOD Sugoi Camping Chair in 2024
LOOKING AT PURCHASING THE DOD SUGOI CAMPING CHAIRS?
You have come to the right place! We have been testing these chairs over the last five months, using them on our travels as well as events around town. We travel throughout the US in our RV, finding the best destinations and products for your travels.
This article will tell you everything you want to know about the DOD camping chair.
Notable DOD Sugoi Chair Insights
✔ The DOD camping chair from DOD Outdoors is much more durable than most camping chairs. The fabric is substantial and can easily be washed if it gets dirty.
✔ The chair does take longer to set up than your typically cheap camping chair folds.
✔ It is comfortable and has the ability to sit in different positions, but those with wide shoulders might find the chair slightly restrictive.
✔ The chair works for the beach and the sand, but it works better on the dirt and grass than it does on the sand. In the sand, the chair can sink, and if you use the adjustments on the chair legs, the sand can make it a little harder to retract the extended legs.
✔ The fabric, like any quality fabric, can fade if left outside in the sun for days at a time. Take care of the chair, and it will last.
✔ The DOD camping chair is super light and stored in a small square fabric bag. This is great because it is easy to pack and very light making it super nice to carry with you and to store.
Unboxing the Sugoi Camping Chair
Once the Sugoi camping chair arrives at your door, you will first notice the high-quality fabric. The chair is relatively easy to set up, but it was beneficial to check out the included instructions.
We would recommend setting the chair up at your house first before using it. The first time setting up the chair is always the slowest.
Package Includes
The DOD Sugoi Camping Chair package only includes a few pieces. In the box are the chair frame, the chair fabric, and the carrying case for the chair.
One thing to note is that attached to the chair frame are two velcro straps. The straps should remain on the frame at all times. These straps are used to secure the chair legs to the frame when the chair is stored in the carrying case.
How to Set Up and Take Down the Sugoi Camping Chair
The setup and takedown are not complicated, but if you know a few things beforehand, then the process makes a little more sense.
The first time you put the chair together, you will see that the chair frame naturally wants to go to its connected form. You will disconnect the legs from the frame, and the leg pieces fit into each other.
Once the frame is assembled, you will need to attach the chair fabric. The fabric is tight the first time you assemble the chair, so a little muscle is required. The fabric has four pockets that the frame slides into.
Once you have added the fabric, the chair is ready for use.
Disassembling the DOD Sugoi Camping Chair
When you disassemble the DOD Sugoi Camping Chair, you will remove the fabric and then disassemble the legs of the chair. The chair legs attach to the frame of the chair when not in use and are held in place by plastic clips that are very sturdy and two velcro straps.
The straps are situated in a manner that you can keep them attached to the frame of the chair, and then they wrap around the legs to hold them in place.
You do not want to lose the velcro straps. These straps keep the legs tight against the chair frame and make inserting the chair into the carrying case a breeze.
The frame will fit nicely into the carrying case, and then the chair fabric is stuffed into the case around the frame.
What We Like About the DOD Camping Chair
We really like how portable the chair is. The chair is a great size and weight making it perfect for use to store in our RV or in our cars and trucks. Our kids can easily carry multiple chairs at a time. The chair can fit many sizes of people comfortably.
We like the fabric that is used for the chair. The fabric is durable and has a nice feel when sitting in it.
What Could Be Improved About the DOD Camping Chair
There are a few things that could be improved which would enhance the experience of using the DOD camping chair.
It would be nice if the carrying case had a shoulder strap of some sort. The carrying case only has a handle that you have to hold with your hand. If it had a shoulder strap, it would be nice.
However, because the camping chair is so light and stores in a square shape that is about 1 foot X 1 foot, we never had issues carrying it around.
The DOD chair, at times, feels a little narrow for those who have big shoulders. I have wide shoulders, and because you sit into the chair when you use it, the sides can feel like they push your shoulders inward slightly.
Our Overall Thoughts
Overall, the DOD Sugoi Camping Chair is a great chair to have. We prefer to use it for situations where we will be sitting for longer time periods or somewhere where we can set the chair up and leave it for a while.
This is only because it takes a minute or maybe two minutes to unpack or pack the chair when finished using it.
The DOD Sugoi Camping Chair is comfortable and durable, so if you are looking for a quality camping chair, you should give the Sugoi camping chair a try. We have enjoyed using it.
