A Complete Review of the BougeRV Yuma 200W CIGS Solar Panel [2024]
Looking For a Review of BougeRV’s Yuma 200W CIGS Solar Panel?
We are Candice and Coltin and we travel throughout the United States looking for the
best destinations and best products to use for our RV so you will know what to use for
your travels with you and your Family.
BougeRv sent us their new Yuma 200W CIGS Solar Panel to try out. We were not paid
for this review and will give you our honest take on this solar panel and what you should
know if you are considering using it with your RV or any other use.
Unboxing the Yuma 200W CIGS Solar Panel
When we received our Yuma Solar panel, everything came as you would expect. It is
professionally packaged and looked excellent. Even after researching and learning
about this flexible solar panel before it arrived in the mail it is cool to see a solar panel
rolled up into a box.
You will notice that after you take the solar panel out of the box it wants to stay folded. It
is also deceivingly long, so I had to enlist one of the twins to help grab the bottom while I
grabbed the top in order to lay it out flat.
After letting it sit for a while it laid pretty flat. It reminded me a little bit like unrolling a rug and it takes a bit to lay flat. This was a similar experience but it is way easier to get to lay flat than a rug.
As we got ready to try the solar panel in a few different applications, we decided to keep
some of the packaging that the solar panel is rolled up in when it comes because we didn’t want it to get scratched if we needed to roll it up frequently. It appears to be very durable, but we have decided not to test its durability currently.
If you need to roll it back up again, you may want to keep some of the packaging or use a bed sheet to keep it from scratching.

Notable Features of the Yuma 200W CIGS Solar Panel
The most notable feature of the Yuma CIGS Solar Panels is that they are really flexible. This is unique because most solar panels are not flexible because they are made of glass. The Yuma CIGS solar panels are not made with glass. They are steel-reinforced and glass-free.
Because the solar panels are so versatile, you can use them in so many applications. We tested our panel with our solar generator and mounted the panel on our RV, but we see these solar panels having uses outside of these applications, such as using them on your boat or yacht or mounting them to a building to charge your battery for an automatic gate opener.
These could also be used for farming applications where you need a solar panel to easily attach to an old building to recharge a battery. There are some interesting uses for these solar panels.
These solar panels come in two configurations. One configuration has tape on the back that will keep your solar panel attached to whatever you attach it to. The other configuration comes with pre-punched holes where you can put screws to attach the solar panel.
This can be a personal preference or depending on where and how you are going to be attaching your solar panel. We chose the pre-punched holes because it gave us more versatility, and if we wanted to put our own tape to hold the solar panel down, we easily could because it does not weigh very much.
What We Like
We really like how versatile this solar panel is. It might not be the best option for every
application, but it has some really unique benefits for those who want to use solar panels
but need something more versatile and flexible.
We really like how easy this product is to install. It does not matter what configuration
you choose to secure the solar panel. This solar panel can be so easy to install.
Even though these solar panels are less efficient than the typical solar panel, they do a
good job. Those who are looking for a product to fit their unique solar panel needs
should be happy with what this solar panel offers.

What We Didn’t Like
There are a few things we don’t like about this solar panel but these can really depend
on where and how you are going to use the solar panel. For those who are using the
solar panel for RV purposes, keep in mind that the bottom of the solar panel can get really
hot really fast.
We left the solar panel on the ground in the front yard, testing it on our
solar generator, and when I went to move it, I could feel the bottom had gotten pretty
warm.
Because of this, in some applications, it is recommended to add some sort of
buffer between your RV and the solar panel, like corrugated plastic, to allow more airflow. You do not have to add anything under them, but it is recommended. RV with Tito has a nice video to give you some ideas, but don’t limit yourself. These can be installed in many different ways.
We don’t like how expensive these solar panels are. Because of the unique nature of these solar panels, they are more expensive than your traditional solar panels. We don’t like that they are less efficient than your traditional solar panels, but they are made to be installed where your traditional solar panels aren’t.
Other Information to Consider
If you go with the tape-down configuration for the Yuma solar panel, it is made to stay
and it becomes pretty close to a permanent placement. Also make sure you clean the
surface before you place the panel.
Make sure you have a good charge controller to go with your solar panels. From our experience, if you are adding solar panels to your RV but are only going to start with a few solar panels, make sure you purchase a bigger charge controller than you need.
We have continued to expand the solar power on our RV because it works great. Whether you have heard of BougeRV or not, you should give them a try.
I had to go to our local RV store to purchase some additional connectors when I was installing our Yuma 200W CIGS Solar Panel, and the connectors the RV dealer sold me were made by BougeRV. If I were less impatient it would have been cheaper to purchase these directly from BougeRV. Everything they have sent us shows up really fast.
