Sedona Vortex Locations
Cathedral Rock
Cathedral Rock is one of our favorite places to hike in Sedona. While the hike involves some elevation gain and scrambling over rocks, it is relatively short and manageable, even for young children. My twins hiked to the top with some assistance when they were four years old.
The top offers spectacular views, including some large drop-offs, so we advise you to use some caution. Watching the sunset from the top of Cathedral Rock vortex is a beautiful experience, but make sure to bring a headlamp for a safe descent during low light conditions.

This trail is home to the Boynton Canyon Vortex, famous for its enchanting caves and powerful energy. This scenic trail allows hikers to explore the captivating canyon and Subway Cave while enjoying a relatively flat stroll through the desert landscape.

The West Fork Trail in Sedona offers a pleasant 6-mile out-and-back hike along Oak Creek, providing a great option for those seeking a scenic trail with water elements. FAQ: Sedona Vortex Tours
Vortex tours in Sedona are guided private tours that take visitors to the vortex areas, which are believed to be locations where the earth’s energy is intensified and can be felt in a profound way. The Sedona tours offer insights into the spiritual significance of the vortexes, their effects on personal well-being, and various practices that can enhance the experience.
Determining the “best” vortex to visit in Sedona is subjective and depends on individual preferences and experiences. Each vortex offers unique vortex energies and ambiance.
Some popular vortex sites in Sedona include Cathedral Rock, Bell Rock, and Airport Mesa. It is recommended to research and choose a vortex that resonates with your interests and intentions. Cathedral Rock is one of our favorites because we love the hike up to the top.
Yes, it is possible to visit the vortex sites in Sedona on your own. However, joining a guided vortex tour provides valuable insights, information, and a deeper understanding of the vortex energy and its significance.
The knowledgeable guide can offer their expertise on how to best experience the vortex energy and may share practices or rituals to enhance the connection.
At a Sedona vortex, you can expect to experience a unique energy that is often described as calming, uplifting, or spiritually transformative. Some visitors report feeling a sense of inner peace, increased clarity, or a heightened spiritual connection, while others may experience physical sensations such as tingling or a gentle vibration.
One of the easiest vortexes to access in Sedona is Airport Mesa. It has a short hike and a parking lot nearby, making it convenient for visitors. Bell Rock is also relatively easy to reach, with a well-marked trailhead; however, parking here can be more challenging.

The best time for a vortex tour in Sedona is typically during the spring and fall seasons when the weather is pleasant and the tourist crowds are smaller compared to the peak summer months.
Morning tours are often preferred as they offer cooler temperatures and the opportunity to witness the stunning sunrise over the red rock landscapes. Alternatively, sunset views of the Arizona horizon and the desert night sky are hard contenders to beat. We experienced sunset at the Cathedral Rock vortex, and it was an amazing experience.
If you want a self-guided Sedona vortex tours experience, I recommend picking two to three centers of energy (vortexes) to visit, depending on how long you want your tours to be. Keep in mind that some of the sites require more hiking to get to than others. The strongest points of energy are at Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock.
Sedona is one of the most beautiful places we have visited, so picking just one place is tough. For us, the saddle of Cathedral Rock and the summit is the most magical place in Sedona. Mother Earth really shows off the extraordinary beauty of Sedona’s red rocks, especially at sunset.
