It’s all about the location. You can’t beat it! The property is dated- you can hear through the walls and ceilings. When I sat on the toilet, I felt the toilet move when the person in the adjacent bathroom sat on the toilet. Staying Inside the National Park vs Staying Outside the Park

When looking for places to stay near the South Rim Grand Canyon, you will need to decide if you want to stay inside the park or outside of the park. Lodging in the park is more expensive on average, but you are within walking distance of the canyon rim. Some of the hotels in the park even have canyon views.

Can You Spend the Night at the Bottom of the Grand Canyon?

Phantom Ranch in the Grand Canyon

Yes! You can spend the night at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, but you’ll need to plan up to a year in advance (and add a pinch of luck). There is only one hotel/campground at the base of the canyon: Phantom Ranch.

Phantom Ranch is nestled inside a gorgeous oasis beside Bright Angel Creek. Giant trees rustle above a series of rustic cabins.

The cabins and dormitories at Phantom Ranch can only be reached on foot, by mule, or by rafting down the Colorado River. Space is so limited that the park uses a lottery system for reservations.
