Things to Do with Kids in Las Vegas on the Strip

1. Adventuredome Theme Park

Adventuredome Theme Park is within Circus Circus. It is an indoor theme park with over 25 rides and attractions like miniature golf and laser tag. There are rides for kids of all ages. The entire theme park is inside so if it is an especially hot day, you can find some relief here.

2. Kid-Friendly Shows in Las Vegas

There are some good options if you want to go to a show with your kids. Just make sure to do your research ahead of time to make sure it is family-friendly. The shows are easy and convenient to go to because they are all on the Las Vegas strip.

We have been to several Cirque du Soleil shows like Michael Jackson and they never disappoint. There is always something going on to keep the kids entertained. Along with Cirque du Soleil shows, kids enjoy the magic and comedy shows.

Blue Man Group

One of the best shows in Las Vegas for kids that deserves an extra call out is the Blue Man Group. The show occurs at the Luxor Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. The Blue Man Group was formed 987 and is known for incorporating lots of different kinds of music and art into their performances. 

The performers have their skin painted blue and kids of all ages will enjoy the Blue Man Group performance.

3. Neon Museum

The Neon Museum is a great way to show the kids the neon lights of Las Vegas without the craziness of the Las Vegas Strip at night. The Neon Museum is dedicated to preserving the old Las Vegas signs for the public to enjoy. There are over 200 signs on display in the Neon Boneyard.

Rowen and Raven loved wandering through the Boneyard to find what they recognized from each of the signs. They especially loved the Ugly Duckling sign. This is one of our favorite places to visit in Las Vegas with kids.

4. Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay

The Shark Reef Aquarium has one of the biggest tanks in North America holding 1.3 million gallons. It is home to sharks, rays, fish, reptiles, and marine invertebrates. It feels like a smaller aquarium but has really great exhibits.

One of our favorite parts of the Shark Reef Aquarium is the shark tunnel. You will be surrounded by fish, turtles, sharks, and other sea life as you walk through the habitat.

There’s also a touch pool filled with rays you can touch. Some of our other favorite animals at the Shark Reef Aquarium were the octopus, jellies, sea turtles, and the schools of fish at the Shipwreck Exhibit.

It takes about three to four hours to go through the Shark Reef Aquarium and is a great stop in Las Vegas with kids.

5. Coca-Cola Store

The Coca-Cola Store in Las Vegas has two floors with tons of Coca-Cola products to purchase. Rowen and Raven couldn’t leave without one of the cute polar bears.

But the real reason we visited the Coca-Cola store was for the café on the second floor. Buy the Around the World Tray to enjoy different Coca-Cola drinks from around the world. Our favorites were the Smart Apple from China, and Kiwi Mango from South Africa. The worst, by far, was the Beverly from Italy.

6. Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat

The Secret Garde and Dolphin Habitat is found at the Mirage. The lush foliage is home to lions, white tigers, dolphins, and leopards. There are six different displays that highlight the white tigers and lions. Be sure to pay special attention to the white stripe tigers and the show white tigers.

There are also lion statues made from plants as well as pretty waterfalls to enjoy.

The dolphin habitat is a research facility with the goal of educating the public about dolphins. There is an underwater viewing area which is a great place to see the dolphins swimming and take pictures.

There are additional experiences available if you would like a more personal encounter with the dolphins. Painting with the dolphins and trainer for a day program are two great opportunities. This is a great place to swim with dolphins in Las Vegas with kids.

High Roller Observation Wheel

If your kids are a fan of Ferris wheels, then a must is the High Roller Observation Wheel. This is a great opportunity to see Las Vegas from above which is especially cool at night. You can see the bright lights of the Las Vegas strip along with the Bellagio fountain and the Eiffel Tower.

The High Roller Observation Wheel is open daily from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM. There are no height restrictions so the whole family can enjoy the ride. Kids ages 3 and under are free with a paying adult.

The High Roller Observation Wheel is located at The LINQ Promenade and is a fun place to spend some time. There are lots of fun places to hang out and grab a bite to eat.

Eiffel Tower

If you’ve been wanting to take your kids to Paris but haven’t made it there yet, you can get a taste of Paris in Las Vegas. This landmark is a highlight on many of the Las Vegas bus tours.

You can go to the top of the Eiffel Tower for good views of the Las Vegas strip. There is a nice 360-degree viewing deck at the top, 46 stories above the ground floor.

If you’re feeling fancy, you can also eat dinner in the Eiffel Tower. The restaurants can be spendy costing up to $250 per person so you really need to be in the mood to splurge. It boasts a delicious menu featuring classic French cuisine with beautiful views of the Bellagio fountain.

Flyover Las Vegas

Flyover Las Vegas is an exciting flying simulation ride that offers riders a multi-sensory experience. From the Wild West to Iceland, the views and overall experience of this ride are awe-inspiring. If your family loves a little thrill-seeking adventure, they will enjoy this ride!

Keep in mind that the ride is designed for both kids (ages 4 and over) and adults and features multiple filmed flying experiences to choose from.

Food Tours

People visiting Las Vegas who consider themselves foodies should definitely book a food tour. It’s a fun and entertaining way to explore the city. Las Vegas food tours vary from hidden gems throughout the city and hot spots along the strip. Show up hungry and leave happy!

7. M&M’s World

M&M World is a great stop if you are looking for things to do in Las Vegas with kids. There are four floors filled with all sorts of fun activities and things to do.

Our favorite part is the candy wall on the second floor. The wall is filled with M&M’s in pretty much every color. You can mix and match. It is fun to let the kids pick out their own colors to eat. There are also unique flavors like pretzel, peanut butter, and chili nut.

If you’re looking for more things to do there, check out the personalized M&M printer, the 3D movie, and the photo opportunities. Sometimes there are M&M characters roaming around the store that you can take pictures with as well.

8. Hershey’s Chocolate World

Hershey’s Chocolate World is a store in New York—New York that features all things chocolate. There are a variety of different experiences like creating your own personalized Hershey’s chocolate bar.

In the store, there are more than 80 types of Hershey’s brand products as well as other mementos and gifts.

While also at the New York-New York Hotel, be sure to check out the roller coasters.

9. The Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

We can’t call it a trip to Las Vegas with kids without visiting the Bellagio. We love wandering through the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. The atrium is seasonally decorated with plants, flowers, and trees. On our last trip, the Conservatory Botanical Gardens was decorated for the Chinese New Year.

On your way in or out of the Conservatory Botanical Gardens, stick around to watch the famous fountain show. This is one of our favorite parts of the Las Vegas strip.

The Bellagio Water Show is open daily. The schedule for the show varies by day but during operating hours you shouldn’t have to wait more than 30 minutes for the show to start.

10. Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo Hotel

If you’re in the area this is a fun and free stop in Las Vegas with kids. I wouldn’t go out of my way to see it because it is pretty small but worth it if you’re walking by. The habitat is home to a flock of Chilean flamingos along with other wildlife like turtles, swans, ducks, and koi fish.

It is a nice place to stroll outside while the kids enjoy looking at the animals.

11. Welcome to Las Vegas Sign

The Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign is a landmark that most have seen a picture of. The sign marks the start of the Las Vegas strip. Be prepared for a line if you want to snag a picture at this iconic spot.

We didn’t want to wait in the line, so we went to the side and timed our picture as people were trading off.

12. Discovery Children’s Museum

The Discovery Children’s Museum is a great family outing in Las Vegas with kids. There are nine exhibits with hands-on activities that are built for a variety of ages. The Toddler Town is a great place for younger kids to crawl and explore.

There is also an interactive model of the Hoover Dam and the surrounding area as well as other educational exhibits. Tickets for Nevada residents are $12.50. Tickets for non-residents are $14.50.

13. The Aquarium at the Silverton Hotel

The Aquarium at the Silverton Hotel is one of our kids’ favorite activities in Las Vegas. It is a 117,000-gallon aquarium with beautiful fish. If you time your visit correctly, you’ll be able to see a mermaid or two in the aquarium.

Rowen and Raven loved the mermaid so much that they followed her all around the tank. We would recommend visiting when the mermaids are there.

If you are a little early, head next door to the Bass Pro Shop aquariums. They are full of trout, catfish, carp, and bass.

14. Springs Preserve

The Springs Preserve is a great place to soap up the beautiful Las Vegas sun. It is a 180-acre park full of walking trails, wildlife, exhibits, and attractions. Here are some of the best things to see in the Springs Preserve.

• Animal habitat – Some of the animals included in the exhibits are the Gila monsters, lizards, desert cottontails, snakes, scorpions, and a pocket gopher.
• Art exhibit – Check out the Events & Activities calendar to see the latest art exhibit. This is a rotational exhibit so there’s always something new to see.
• Waterworks – This is a great place to learn about science. There are microscopes the kids can use to examine water contaminants, rock samples, and more.
• Butterfly Habitat – During the fall and spring, you can see beautiful butterflies and plants. It’s a wonderful place to visit if you’re in Las Vegas in September.
• Hiking Trail – There are more than three miles of trails that you can walk or bike on.
• Botanical Garden – There are thousands of plants to see in this beautiful botanical garden.

15. Valley of Fire

If you are looking for outdoor things in Las Vegas with kids, head to the Valley of Fire State Park in Overton, Nevada. The park is about an hour north of downtown Las Vegas and is home to brilliant red sandstone rock formations.

There are so many hikes and scenic views in the park that are perfect for kids. There are several herds of Bighorn Sheep that call Valley of Fire home and was my kids’ favorite part of the park. They loved seeing the “bighorns” as they called them.

Some of our favorite kid-friendly spots in the park are Elephant Rock, the Beehives, the Mouse’s Tank Trail, the Fire Wave, and Atlatl Rock. Hiking all of these trails is a great activity in Las Vegas for families.

Las Vegas Indoor Skydiving

Another fun thing to do with older kids is Las Vegas indoor skydiving. You can get the feeling of skydiving without having to jump out of a plane. You will get the feeling of a freefall without a parachute and motion sickness.

Las Vegas Indoor Skydiving takes about an hour for your training and three experiences in the wind tunnel. The experience also includes five digital photos of your skydiving experience and a t-shirt. The minimum age is five years old.

This is a great activity that everyone in your family will enjoy.

16. Pinball Hall of Fame

The Pinball Hall of Fame is a great place for some family-friendly gaming in Las Vegas with kids. It has over 200 different pinball games and other arcade games. The pinball games range from the 1905s up to 1990s pinball machines.

Most of the pinball machines are 25 cents per play. Rowen and Raven weren’t quite big enough to enjoy pinball but enjoyed the bowling, car driving, and skeeball games. The Pinball Hall of Fame is one of the Las Vegas kids’ activities the entire family will enjoy.

17. Seven Magic Mountains

If you are looking for a fun free thing to do with kids in Las Vegas, Seven Magic Mountain is a fun stop. It is a large desert artwork piece that is a great place to take pictures. There are seven towers of colorfully, stacked boulders that are over 30 feet high.

It was put up in 2016 and was supposed to stay up for two years but has been so popular that it has stayed. It is one of the fun things to do in Vegas with kids.

There is a parking lot on-site, but no public transportation runs to Seven Magic Mountains. There are no restrooms or amenities onsite. This is one of the most unique activities in Las Vegas.

18. Downtown Container Park

We loved Downtown Container Park. It is a shopping mall made of shipping containers. There is a great park for the kids in the middle.

Rowen and Raven loved climbing throughout the treehouse and the musical touch center. The Downtown Container Park playground is one of the best things to do in Las Vegas with kids.

We enjoyed the live music while we played with large legos and a Connect 4 game. There was also a fun dot room with a piano just the size of Rowen and Raven. There are a variety of restaurants and dessert stops.

We couldn’t leave Downtown Container Park without a scoop of ice cream. It is just up the street from Fremont Street and many of the great Fremont Street hotels. This is one of the really fun Las Vegas attractions for families.

19. Cowabunga Bay

Cowabunga Bay is a really fun water park in Las Vegas. There is a wave pool, water slides, lazy rivers, and even sandy beaches. The kids’ area, Cowabunga Kids Cove, is designed for younger kids and toddlers. It is easy for the little ones to enjoy time at the park here. There are heated pools and smaller rides.

Boardwalk Bay is also a fun swimming pool for relaxing and swimming. It is heated in the Spring and Fall making it one of the perfect Las Vegas kids activities.

Cowabunga Bay is a 30-minute drive from the Las Vegas Strip. Tickets start at $42.95 for those taller than 48”.

If you are looking for a less expensive option, check out summer nights. You can go for the last three hours of operation for $21.95. This is one of the Las Vegas attractions for families that everyone will enjoy.

20. Red Rock Canyon

Red Rock Canyon is a fun outdoor adventure that is a short drive from the Strip. It is about 25 minutes west and is a great place to let the kids get some energy out climbing on the red sandstone formations and hiking on the beautiful trails. The canyon is a one-way scenic drive with lots of fun stops along the way.

Plus, you can get in for free using the America the Beautiful Pass.

Our favorite stops in the park were Calico I, White Rock, and Red Spring/Calico Basin. Calico Basin was a perfect place to let the kids loose for some exploration on the rocks. It is one of the great things to do with kids in Las Vegas.

Keep in mind there are some amazing tours in Red Rock Canyon if you’d like a guided experience.

21. Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Garden

If you and your kids have a sweet tooth, this is a must-see on your Las Vegas with kids vacation. The Ethel M Chocolate Factory is about 10 miles from the Strip. The 3-acre botanical garden is a great place to introduce your kids to the over 300 species of plants found on the grounds. Walking through the garden is one of the fun things to do in Vegas with kids.

After your stroll around the gardens, head in for a treat from the chocolate factory. There is a self-guided chocolate viewing aisle where you can watch the chocolate being made. Don’t plan on visiting right when the factory opens because the chocolate production won’t be up and going.

We visited right as it opened so we didn’t get to see any chocolate being made but we did enjoy the tasty samples and got some chocolate for the drive home.

22. Lion Habitat Ranch

If your kids love seeing animals, a trip to the Lion Habitat Ranch is a great activity for your family vacation. The Habitat Ranch is a nonprofit sanctuary for a variety of animals. There are about two dozen lions living there along with ostriches, giraffes, emus, and macaws.

The Lion Habitat Ranch does have shorter operation hours so be sure to check their schedule when putting together your itinerary. Typically, they are open Friday through Monday. Hours vary seasonally. This is a great activity in Las Vegas with kids.

In addition to general admission, the Lion Habitat Ranch offers a behind-the-scenes tour. The tour is about 90 minutes and gives you a look into the bathing, feeding, and caring of the lions at the ranch. For animal-loving kids, this is a great opportunity to learn more about the animals in the park.

23. Hover Dam

The Hoover Dam is about 45 minutes west of Las Vegas and is considered one of the industrial wonders of the world. It was built to control flooding and supply electricity to the southwest area of the United States. The dam was built in 1928 and was considered the largest project of the time.

You can go on a tour of the dam or spend about an hour walking on and around the dam itself for free. There are lots of options, but no matter which Hoover Dam tour you decide to take or explore the dam on your own, it is one of the best activities in Las Vegas.

A tour of the dam will give you an inside look at the powerplant portion of the dam as well as stops at the Las Vegas Welcome sign, Hoover Dam Museum in Boulder City, and the Hoover Dam memorial bridge. Lunch is included as well as roundtrip transport from select hotels.

About a mile before you reach the Hoover Dam, look for parking near the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. You can get a great view of the dam from this perspective. This is one of the most unique things to see in Las Vegas.

24. Lake Mead

Lake Mead is an awesome day trip if you are visiting downtown Las Vegas with kids. It is about 40-minutes from the Strip. The water is a brilliant blue and there is a lot of really fun activities to do at the lake. The water coming into the lake is coming straight from the Grand Canyon. Pretty cool!

• Tour the Hoover Dam
• Take the Northshore Drive
• Hike on the Redstone Hiking Trail

25. Day Trip to the Grand Canyon

The West Rim of the Grand Canyon is about 2.5 hours away from Las Vegas, but the drive over will be well worth your time. The Grand Canyon is one of the most remarkable natural wonders of our world and something you should take the time to visit, especially if you don’t think you will be back in the area for a while.

If you don’t want to take the time to drive, consider a tour from the air. There are lots of companies that offer tours leaving from downtown Las Vegas. We flew over the Grand Canyon a couple of years ago, and it was as amazing from the air as standing on the canyon rim.

It is truly one of the remarkable family things to do in Las Vegas. If you do decide to spend a little more time at the Grand Canyon and stay overnight, there are lots of great places to stay near the Grand Canyon.

If you’re looking for truly epic way to experience the Grand Canyon, consider jumping aboard a helicopter tour from Las Vegas. Many of these tours offer a once-in-a-lifetime chance to land on a bluff inside the canyon, where you enjoy the stunning views and a snack!

26. Day Trip to Zion National Park

If you love hiking and visiting the national parks, visiting Zion National Park is a great day trip or an overnight stay. If you’re only headed to Zion for a day you won’t be able to see everything in the park, but the highlights are still beautiful and well worth your time.

Here are the best things to see in Zion National Park if you only have a day:

• Riverside Walk
• Emerald Pools Trail
• Pa’rus Trail along the Virgin River
• Canyon Overlook Trail

Zion is about two and a half hours from downtown Las Vegas. The best way to get to Zion is to drive yourself. It is an easy drive along 1-15 North.

If you are driving, consider a detour through Valley of Fire State Park. St. George is another fun city along the way that is a good place to stop for food.

If you do not have a car, there are lots of day trip tours that leave from Las Vegas. Zion National Park is one of the fun family things to do in Las Vegas.

If you have additional time to spend in southern Utah, Bryce Canyon is another beautiful national park.

27. Day Trip to Antelope Canyon

One of the prettiest and most unbelievable places we have been in the United States is Antelope Canyon. It is a beautiful slot canyon west of downtown Vegas. If you’re up for a day trip, this is one of the best things to do with kids in Las Vegas. You can either take a guided tour of Antelope Canyon from Las Vegas or you can drive there yourself.

If you do drive yourself, you will still need to book a guided tour once you get to Page. Antelope Canyon is on protected Navajo land and only authorized guides can take visitors through the slot canyon. No matter how you decide to visit, it is well worth a trip. It is one of the most photogenic places we have visited and my kids loved it.

My kids loved going up and down the ladders and playing in the sand at the bottom of the canyon.

While in Page, be sure to stop by the Horseshoe Bend Overlook in Arizona. It is an amazing overlook with great views of the Colorado River. It is a very popular place to visit and take pictures.

If you decide it is a little too long to make it there and back in a day, there are lots of great places to stay in Page, Arizona. This will make it not quite as long of a day for your and your kids.

28. Seven Magic Mountains

Seven Magic Mountains is a piece of land art, located in Las Vegas’ Ivanpah Valley. Seven columns of beautiful, colorful rocks are stacked one on top of the other. It’s really a sight to see.

Seven Magic Mountains is about 30 minutes outside of Las Vegas and are free to visit. Our kids loved seeing the colorful land art, but they also loved running around in the wide open space. This is an excellent place to visit when the kids need to get some wiggles out.

Giordano’s

If you’re looking for a good place to eat out with the kiddos, you can’t go wrong with pizza. Especially the pizza from Giordano’s. It is famous for the deep-dish Chicago-style pizza along with delicious wings, sandwiches, salads, and more.

Rowen and Raven especially loved watching the staff make the pizzas through the kitchen window. The deep-dish pizzas do take about 45 minutes to cook so if your little ones get restless, bring some coloring or games to keep them entertained.

They have two locations in the Las Vegas area. One is right on the Las Vegas strip and the other one is west of downtown making it one of the convenient and fun things for kids in Las Vegas. This is such a great restaurant in Las Vegas for kids.

• Tahiti Village – If you want a kitchen and separate bedrooms for your kids, Tahiti Village is a great option. There is a Tahitian-themed pool area along with a lazy river, sand-entry beach pool, hot tubs, and an arcade.
• Bellagio Las Vegas – My kids love the gardens and Bellagio fountains show. They also have suite rooms, perfect for larger families. They even have a few rooms with fully equipped kitchens and dining rooms.
• The Mirage Hotel & Casino – There are lots of kid-friendly swimming pools with waterfalls and lagoons here as well as the Beatles-themed Cirque du Soleil show. The Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat are also here. This is a hotel that has lots of entertainment in-house.
• The Venetian Las Vegas – If you are looking for an Italian experience without leaving the country, head to the Venetian. I’ve enjoyed gelato next to the canal, which you can take a gondola ride through if you want. There are also three swimming pools and a wax museum on site.
• Circus Circus Hotel Las Vegas – This is a great hotel option for the budget-conscious family and is very kid-friendly. They have circus shows every half an hour, arcade games as well as indoor amusement parks.
